Past experience has shown that successful applicants have studied Japanese since high school and have typically been on an exchange to Japan during their degree or been immersed for a decent period by some other means and are already speaking conversational Japanese at least. The Asia NZ Foundation has been running this programme since the 2009/2010 NZ summer and all interns have reported they found the experiential learning opportunity KRC offers to be highly rewarding from a professional development perspective. The interns live in the company dormitory and conduct almost all of their interactions in Japanese during the internship period. The Foundation covers the intern’s costs.
