Workshop on 2011 Japan and Christchurch earthquakes
From 30th to the 31st of October, the Japanese Programme at the University of Canterbury will be co-hosting a mini workshop on the 2011 Japan and Christchurch earthquakes with colleagues from Japan. Academics from Tohoku University and Kobe University will be sharing their studies on the affect of the Great East Japan Earthquake and Tsunami on 'intangible' cultural assets (performing arts, festivals, traditional occupations, religious practices etc). Japanese studies academics at UC and Otago will be sharing their work and teaching on the Japan earthquake while other humanities and social science academics at UC will be talking about their work on the Christchurch earthquake. UC's hosting of this workshop is generously sponsored by the Handa Fellowship. If you are interested in attending and/or for more information, please contact Dr Susan Bouterey, School of Language, Social and Political Sciences (firstname.lastname@example.org).
